Masks

Flexography clichés in light boxes

Masks are a series of flexographic clichés (a kind of rubber relief) that also appear as props in the film The Human Orchid, in sessions reminiscent of psychological personality tests. The images are produced with inspiration from so-called “face rigs,” used in 3D programs when animating a character’s face – a kind of control system over the characters’ expressions. My rigs are based on images of people, a stone lion from the Glyptotek, a scan of a brain, the orchid Ophrys insectifera, and nettles.
