Stone (no. 5 of 9) Dec. 2010 "Qalandya" is a light installation whose construction is taken from the 18th century Laterna Magica. Unlike the original which was built into a box, this work shows the whole process as the light passes through lenses from its light source to the projected image, visible to the viewer. Qalandya is a military checkpoint in Ramallah, Palestine, and the photographed stone projected is one of several stones retrieved from there.
