Stone (no.5 of 9) Dec 2010 "Qalandya"

Light, wood, glass, diapositive (magic lantern)
Collaboration with Lina Selander.

Stone (no. 5 of 9) Dec. 2010 "Qalandya" is a light installation whose design is taken from 1600's Magic Lantern. This was one of the first device invented to project images and plays an important role in the history of the moving image. Unlike original design that is built into a box, the procedure when the light goes from its source, through the lenses and diapositive is visible to the viewer. Qalandya is a military check-point in Ramallah, Palestine, and the photographed stone is one of several stones retrieved from there.
